The Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton has allocated 280,000 KM (cca 143,000.00 EUR) in the budget for financing the two-year IT professional study program at the University of Sarajevo.

Haris Bašić, Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Tatjana Vucic, Executive Director of Bit Alliance, Jasmin Velagic, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Sarajevo, and Mustafa Memic, Dean of the Faculty of Science in Sarajevo, signed the Agreement on the realization of the program “Support to the Development of the IT Industry”. provided funding for a two-year IT professional study program for 150 students.

At the initiative of the association of IT companies “Bit Alliance”, the University of Sarajevo has launched an IT two-year professional study program that enables enrolment of an additional number of students to study IT. The two-year IT professional study was organized in response to the labor market needs and the potential of the IT sector. By attending a two-year IT program, students are trained to work in the IT sector and have the opportunity to continue their studies and earn a bachelor’s degree in accordance with the Canton Sarajevo Higher Education Act, as well as to complete their master’s and doctoral studies.

The two-year IT professional study program is taught at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Science, University of Sarajevo. The two-year study of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering “Software Development” financed the study for 49 students. The Faculty of Science of the University of Sarajevo implements a two-year study program “Information Technology”, and 101 students will receive funding for the study.

The professional IT study program is designed to encompass professional courses in information technology, computer science, programming and informatics with a particular focus on the practical skills.  An obligatory class within the study program “Industry Practice” will enable students to work in IT companies and acquire the necessary skills for employment in the future.
